The Three Most Important Factors Influencing Longevity

1. Genetics

Genetics is the study of how information is passed from parents to offspring. Genes are the basic building blocks of heredity and contain instructions for creating vital molecules. DNA acts as a carrier for these genes.
In addition to genetics, our lifestyle and environment also influence longevity. How we live can slow aging processes, which in turn worsen health and increase the risk of disease.

2. Lifestyle

Genetics, environment and age all play a role in determining your lifespan; however, there are lifestyle choices you can make to improve your health and longevity. For example, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly and quitting smoking are essential for good health and longevity.
A large study conducted on over 42,000 adults aged 40 found that adopting just five healthy habits (not smoking, exercising regularly, losing weight, eating healthily and drinking moderately) can increase life expectancy by six years, with this benefit being stronger for men than women.

3. Alter

Life expectancy at birth has improved significantly over the last century in many countries due to reduced infant mortality, improved environmental conditions, improved lifestyles, and advances in health care and medicine.
The biological aging process is defined by the accumulation of molecular and cellular damage that leads to reduced physical and mental capacity, increased risk of disease, and death. This process is neither linear nor consistent and bears little relation to an individual's actual age in years.
Aging has been a major subject of scientific study and public concern for decades. Today, it is understood that aging does not simply indicate reduced functional capacity; rather, it is the result of a shared genetic predisposition and environmental influences.
